Melissa Remmington

Gentle Reader:

We understand that some of you have missed us. Some have asked why we didn't write about the Oklahoma County Convention. Some of you wanted us to chime in on state convention. Or the candidates. Or the FEC fine. Or this or that. Sorry, not sorry. We've been watching Ferlin Kearns videos while smoking peyote in our mountain retreat. This is the way. Shall we get started with the entertainment?

The top question that

we seem to get is do we support a candidate at state convention. The answer is no, but before we get to that, let's talk about perennial quitter John Bennett. We gave you our prediction that he wouldn't be the next OKGOP Chair back in January. Admittedly we thought Wayne would be Chair right now and that Nathan would quit, it seems that Chairman is too much limelight for Wayne and he won't run for chair for some odd reason. But why would John have ever really wanted to be Chair again? He didn't really want to be Chair the last time, and he was really just the face for Leslie NesSmith's antics.

So now we have National Committeewoman Charity Linch running against the Executive Director at the OKGOP, Stan Stevens. Let's take each in turn. Charity is the quintessential action figure that doesn't know what she doesn't know, and refuses to admit it. Stan is just punching above his weight. While Charity doesn't really have a plan for anything, Stan is far too optimistic to be successful when the cold hand of reality sets in. Neither has the swing with donors, and the overconfidence in this area from both of them should scare the shit out of folks if they realized that raising money is most of the job of the Chair, and it's harder than if you're a candidate, and the contribution limits make it that much more difficult to succeed. And it's all on the Chair, not anyone else in the elected party officers. If this was baseball, both would belong in Single A, and wouldn't be ready for the Tulsa Drillers anytime soon.

(BTW, some of you keep thinking that there's $1 million in funds that somehow "disappeared" from the OKGOP coffers. It was never actually there. There's these things called "victory funds" where the funds look like they are in our account, but are actually in a Trump campaign account and are used for the Trump Campaign. We don't really see them, or get them. It's really an accounting trick to the benefit of the Trump campaign that does not help the okgop. Democrats do this too. But don't worry, under either of the two Chair candidates, Oklahoma won't get asked to participate in the future anyway.)

The choice between these two is similar to a choice between a handful of sand and a lube made from a handful of sand. The party has scared off anyone that would actually be decent. About a year ago we said it's time to let them have control of it all. Let them show us what they can do. Either choice accomplishes that goal. Either one you vote for, it's the wrong choice for the future of the OKGOP.

Which brings us to the current chair

Nathan Dahm. We supported him for Chair, but his performance has been piss poor. Don't get us wrong, he's done some good things, but for the most part he's been absent, hasn't raised much money, and basically handed over the party to Stan. Maybe this is another reason not to pick Stan for Chair. Hell, stay home from convention and hang out with your grandkids is our vote. And while we have been consistent that Ferate was not the guy to serve as Chair, he'd have done a whole lot better than Dahm did. At least he raised money. Waste of space and time. At the same time, we'll say this: why did the Action Figures hate him? He's one of them in spirit, just not in fact. Is it because he had an independent mind? Probably. But he didn't use it, so why get upset. We'll say it again: waste of space and time.

Did you know that

the Oklahoma County Republican Party rents space in the Dewey Bartlett Center? They do. And we understand that they have been told by Action Figure Vince Scofus (the guy that got blown out at the Oklahoma county convention) that when Charity is elected, he'll be the "Volunteer Coordinator" again, and he'll make Oklahoma County move out. We've never heard of a volunteer coordinator having that level of authority. To us it sounds like the Colonel doesn't realize that volunteer coordinator is a billet for an E3. More importantly, he is pharisaically reading a rule (rule 11) that is intended to make sure that party business isn't conducted in the back office of a pot shop. Of course the County GOP can operate out of the Dewey Bartlett Center. Frankly, we think it's more likely that they can pay the rent than the OKGOP under either of the fools running for Chair. Please ignore the idiotic Colonel and please, Charity, if you are elected Chair, realize that this guy is not cut out to hold a leadership role in a dog kennel.

And finally,

so many of you want me to talk about Oklahoma County, we will. Kayla Blount was the most qualified candidate, and it wasn't even close. It showed, and she won. This is great news! It offers our federal delegation an outlet to run the Victory effort out of since the OKGOP will be a shithole. But Kayla has to do the work. We think she will, and may be the one bright spot in the Oklahoma Party for the next two years.

To put it in Star Wars terms, we are somewhere in the Empire Strikes Back episode. Let's not get too excited yet.

Stay vigilant,

CW/CM/SC/WB/Shilup Tohbi

p.s. I guess we didn't address the FEC fine. The OKGOP must pay about 20k in the first 90 days of the agreement, PLUS 7k per month until it's all paid off. Failure increases the fine back up to the original price. Neither one of these fools can afford to pay that AND keep the lights on. But don't worry, Colonel Vince will keep the volunteers in line.

p.p.s. We just named the email Melissa Remmington because we couldn't think of another name, and because she's screaming about dumb stuff again. BTW, we have seen some interesting texts from her. Hilarious!
