Fwd: The corner with no exit
Gentle reader:
You have heard of painting yourself into a corner, right? Sure you have. The image in your mind at this moment is of a person trapped by their own poor painting strategy. Or perhaps you are picturing an action figure. If you aren't, you're about to, for two reasons.
First,
The action figures, specifically Chairman Charity, painted herself into a corner because she and her gang railed against those that supported proxies. Proxy users are evil we were told, and because their use is evil, they must be banned. And so, Chairman Charity and her group banned proxies.
BUT, the RNC allows proxies at their meetings. They have kept them in place. And guess who authorized someone to carry her proxy at the RNC meeting? You guessed it, Chairman Charity. To their credit, Larry Murray and Karin Hardin actually showed up to represent the OKGOP. But Chairman Charity, full of vim and vigor to ban proxies, actually used one. Another example of good enough for me, but not for thee.
Second,
Karin Hardin, Larry Murray, and Chairman Charity's proxy all voted for the new RNC Chair. We don't necessarily take umbrage with the vote, but what it shows that all three of them now stand with, and are, the establishment. And they will have to wear their vote around their neck each and every time that Joe Greuters does something that pisses off the grassroots. Mark our words, this will happen.
And a bonus third,
Chairman Charity's OKGOP is in a really bad spot. At the end of July, Chairman Charity held a fundraiser at a location that holds marijuana festivals and burlesque shows. A real classy kind of place. By all accounts we received, there were about 300-350 people in attendance. Great numbers! But numbers don't translate into dollars, and the FEC report for July proves this. We told you that in the previous month's report that OKGOP had about 29K cash on hand. The August report, however, shows that number is down to 12k. So in a month when the OKGOP held a "successful fundraiser," they actually LOST money rather than making any! The FEC report further reveals that most of the dollars raised were "in kind" donations rather than real dollars, so the numbers are even more staggeringly bad than they first appear. Don't believe us? We attached the report for you to consider. We report, you decide, but the reality is that the current regime is unsustainable. And whether in the next 30 days or the next six months, the OKGOP will be soon insolvent. And we called it more than a year ago.
But don't you worry about
the fundraising troubles, because the OKGOP isn't. They would rather worry about the Tulsa Republican Club. You see, the Democrat Mayor of Tulsa told everyone that an independent club of Tulsa Republicans backed something irrelevant. And the Action Figures sprung into action to bring purity back into balance. How did they do it? They took to the OKGOP facebook page to share that, despite unity, that they were going to revoke some weird affiliation agreement from decades ago. Um, ok. We've been to the Tulsa Republican Club meetings in the past. We didn't do it because the OKGOP somehow gave their blessing on the group. Hell, we may go more now that it's a rogue group. It sure has become a popular place to be now that Melissa Meyers has run down the Tulsa GOP.
But the real point to mull over instead of admonishing the Tulsa Republican Club: go raise some money, OKGOP. And the people in the Tulsa Republican Club know more people with it than you do. But for the sake of purity, go ahead and piss those people off more. That sounds like a winning strategy we guess. It's wrong, but you don't really care.
And one more going away thought:
If you screamed when Obama took a percentage of the auto industry companies in 2009, consistency would tell you that what Trump is doing by taking shares of Intel is exactly the same socialism as it was under Obama. There's no way around it. But but but...it's for national security. We have federal laws to protect key industries from foreign divestment. Taking shares is the government controlling the means of production. Simple and clean. If you think there's another explanation, we'd love to hear it.
Ok, all for now. Enjoy your week,
